What ID can I use to book and sit OET?

Quick Read: 

  • To book and sit OET you must use an Acceptable ID from the list in Table 1 below 
  • Your ID must not have expired, been cancelled or become invalid at booking and test date 
  • For OET on paper only, idon’t have a valid ID you will need to request an Authorisation Letter when you book OET.

To sit OET and begin your international healthcare career, you need book your OET using an acceptable and valid ID.  

To book and sit OET you must use an Acceptable ID from the list in Table 1 belowYour ID must also be valid at the time of booking and on the date(s) you take the OET.  

 To be valid, your ID must not have expired or been cancelled or made invalid in any other way as determined solely by CBLA. 

 Authorisation Letter (OET on paper only) 

If you do not have the Acceptable ID in Table 1 and you are taking OET on paper, you will need to request an Authorisation Letter when you Book your OET on paperAn Authorisation Letter allows you to sit the test on paper only if you do not have a valid ID available on Test Day.  You must finish and submit your letter to OET no later than the closing date for the test administration you have booked. A new request for an Authorisation Letter must be submitted each time you book OET. You will need to supply certified colour copies of three ID documents that can be used to verify your identity.

  • OET on paper only - If you do not have a valid passport or UK BRP, please indicate upon Booking that you will be requiring an Authorisation Letter. Complete this form and provide the information detailed to request an Authorisation Letter. 
  • Driver’s license

European Union (EU) 

  • Passport 
  • EU ID 
  • OET on paper only - If you do not have a valid passport or EU ID, please indicate upon Booking that you will be requiring an Authorisation Letter. Complete this formand provide the information detailed to request an Authorisation Letter. 
  • Driver’s licence 
  • Professional ID card

India 

  • Passport 
  • National ID or Aadhar Card 
  • OET on paper only - If you do not have a valid passport, National ID or Aadhar Card, please indicate upon Booking that you will be requiring an Authorisation Letter. Complete this formand provide the information detailed to request an Authorisation Letter. 
  • Driver’s license 
  • Professional ID card 
  • Voting card 
  • Any ID that has expired. 

Rest of World 

  • Passport 
  • Official National Identity Card for the country in which you are sitting the test. 
  • OET on paper only - If you do not have a valid passport, official National ID card for the country in which you are sitting the test, please indicate upon Booking that you will be requiring an Authorisation Letter. Complete this form and provide the information detailed to request an Authorisation Letter. 
  • Driver’s license 
  • Professional ID card 
  • Voting card 
  • Any ID that has expired. 

 

You will not be permitted to take OET if the name on your ID does not match the name you used when you booked. If this applies, you will not be eligible for a refund or a transfer. 

You must bring the same ID on test day as the one you booked with. If you do not do this, you will not be allowed to take the test and you will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
